Blackjack Variations

There is a wide array of choices to choose from when playing online blackjack. These variations are popular in some places and these differ according to the number of decks used in play as well as certain rules. Some of the blackjack variations are listed below for you to know more about them and decide which one you want to try your luck on.

 

European Blackjack

The European Blackjack consists of two decks with the following rules:

  • Doubling is allowed only with the cards, 9 and 11.
  • Dealer stands on soft 17
  • Players are not allowed to double their bets after splitting
  • Re-splitting is also prohibited
  • Surrender is not allowed
  • Player may draw to split aces
  • Insurance is not allowed
  • One bet position

There is an estimated house advantage of 0.39% for European Blackjack

Atlantic City Blackjack

The Atlantic City Blackjack uses 8 decks with the following rules:

  • Dealer stands on soft 17
  • Players are allowed to double on any initial 2 cards
  • Doubling after a split is permitted
  • Dealer peeks for blackjack
  • Re-splitting is allowed for a maximum of 3 hands
  • One bet position
  • Players may exercise "late surrender"

There is an estimated house advantage of 0.35% for Atlantic City Blackjack

Multi Hand Blackjack

The Multi-hand Blackjack has 5 decks with the following rules:

  • Dealer stands on soft 17
  • Doubling is allowed only with the cards, 9 and 11.
  • Doubling after a split occurs is not permitted.
  • Re-splitting is not allowed
  • Player may draw to split aces
  • Insurance is not allowed
  • Surrender is not allowed
  • Five bet positions

There is an estimated house advantage of 0.63% for Multi Hand Blackjack

Double Exposure Blackjack

The Double Exposure Blackjack uses 8 decks with the following rules:

  • All ties are won by the dealer except on blackjack
  • Dealer cards are dealt faced up
  • Dealer hits soft 17
  • When a player wins, pay 1 to 1
  • Blackjack tie, pay 1 to 1
  • Re-splitting is allowed until a maximum of 4 hands
  • Doubling is allowed only with cards 9 to 11
  • Doubling is allowed even after a split has occurred

There is an estimated house advantage of 0.69% for Double Exposure Blackjack

Single Deck Blackjack

The Single Deck Blackjack consists of a single deck with rules as follows:

  • Dealer hits on soft 17
  • Doubling is allowed on any first 2 cards
  • Doubling after a split has occurred is allowed
  • Cards can be split once
  • Dealer check for Blackjack
  • One bet position

There is an estimated house advantage of 0.058% for Single Deck Blackjack

Vegas Strip Blackjack

The Vegas Strip Blackjack has 4 decks and has the following rules as guide:

  • Dealer stands on soft 17
  • Doubling is allowed on any first 2 cards
  • Doubling after a split is allowed
  • Re-splitting is permitted up to 3 hands
  • Dealer peeks for blackjack
  • One bet position

There is an estimated house advantage of is 0.34% for Vegas Strip Blackjack

Vegas Downtown Blackjack

Lastly, the Vegas Downtown Blackjack consists of 2 decks and has the following rules:

  • Dealer hits on soft 17
  • Doubling is allowed on any first two cards
  • Re-splitting is allowed up to 3 hands
  • Doubling after a split is permitted
  • Dealer peeks for blackjack
  • One bet position

There is an estimated house advantage of 0.38% for Vegas Downtown Blackjack
